What we hold, why, and how to stop it.

This notice explains, in plain terms, the personal data Mizumono Co processes and the rights you have over it.

Last updated: 28 July 2026

Who we are

Mizumono Co (“Mizumono”, “we”) is an independent engineering-leadership practice, and is the controller of the personal data described here. For any question about your data, or to exercise any of the rights below, email boris@mizumono.co — it reaches a person, not a ticket queue.

The data we hold

Why we process it, and the lawful basis

We send a low volume of individually relevant business emails to the specific people responsible for engineering leadership, offering a service that addresses a problem in their professional remit. The lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): reaching the right decision-maker about a relevant professional service, balanced against your interests. A formal Legitimate Interests Assessment supports this and is available on request. Marketing email to corporate subscribers is also conducted in line with PECR Regulation 22 — clear sender identity and a working opt-out on every message. Enquiry data is processed to respond to you and, where relevant, to take steps toward a contract at your request.

What we never do

We don’t sell your data, we don’t share it for others’ marketing, we don’t use covert tracking pixels in outreach, and we keep volume low and targeting tight. Sole traders and unincorporated businesses are excluded from cold outreach.

Client engagements

Where an engagement involves our own measurement instruments, those instruments read conditions across a team — never verdicts or scores about a named individual, and never anything reported about a named person to their manager. In that work the client organisation is the controller of its own employee data and we act on its instructions; the specifics are set out in the engagement agreement before any data is touched.

How long we keep it

Prospect data is held only while there is a live interest in making contact, and reviewed and cleared at least annually. If you opt out, we keep the minimum needed to honour that opt-out (so we don’t contact you again). Enquiry data is kept for as long as needed to handle and follow up your enquiry.

Your rights

You can object to processing, and ask us to access, correct, or erase your data, at any time — just email boris@mizumono.co and we’ll act without undue delay. To stop outreach immediately, reply “no thanks” to any email, or email the address above; you’ll be added to a permanent suppression list and won’t hear from us again. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Where your data is held

In access-controlled tools used to run the practice (the contact database, the mailbox, and the sending setup). Some providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

Changes

If this notice changes, the date at the top will update. Material changes affecting how we use existing contact data will be reflected here before they take effect.
